 Three facts about Mihaela are...

She is a 31 year old Romanian photographer who found photography at a young age, but worked different jobs to earn a reasonable income until she turned 27. When she turned 27, she realized that she wanted to use the money she had saved from her work to travel the world and dedicate her life to her photography.

She created a book compilation of 500 portraits and stories of women from all around the world. However, what stands out about Mihaela's portraits were how utterly raw they are. The women in her pictures are all from vastly different backgrounds. This book is called the atlas of beauty and it was indeed Mihaela Novocs claim to fame as a journalist.

What stands out about her photos?

Each portrait she takes varies so much. She does a great job of capturing facial expressions in there raw form. Each photo really shows the small details that differentiates women from around the world. What I think is amazing though is that they also represent the vast similarities of women regardless of where they live or how they grew up.

topic 2:

After reading the Prelude and Ch. 1 of "It's What I Do," what do you think of the book so far?

What has impressed you?
I am impressed by how she explains the stories of her time photographing the war. She writes with such detail that I can almost feel the emotions that she had felt while shooting pictures on the frontline in libya.

What do you think of Addario's work?

I think it is truly inspiring because Mihaela did not start this photography project in order to earn an income. She started it because she genuinely was interesting in discovering the world and was drawn to taking portraits of women throughout her travels.

There are so many lessons I can apply to photojournalism.

“I was suddenly overcome with this quite angst, a restlessness which means that I will go.” “photography has changed the way I look at the world”

What's your favorite photo and explain why? …

My favorite photo is a picture that she took of a little boy with scratches and marks on his face.
